Empowerment for Serious Mental Health Challenges: Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy
Empowerment for Serious Mental Health Challenges is a seven-part series providing practical tools for working with several challenges associated with a serious mental health condition diagnosis, such as schizophrenia. Recovery-oriented cognitive therapy (CT-R), an evidence-based approach, will guide our understanding and action steps. The lectures will be led by CT-R experts from the Beck Institute.

1. May 12th: Disengagement from Medical Care – Promoting active wellness and better quality of life
2. May 19th: Low energy, Isolation, Withdrawal (Negative Symptoms) – How to connect and engage, access motivation, and promote purposeful action
3. May 26th: Grand or Grandiose Beliefs – Meeting the underlying needs that interfere with taking action toward goals and aspirations
4. June 2nd: Fear-based and Persecutory Beliefs – Promoting safety and social connection
5. June 9th: Voices or Visions (Hallucinations) – Refocusing to increase control and meaningfully participate in a desired life
6. June 16th: Aggression and Self-injury – Building aspirations and a sense of purpose
7. June 23rd: Substance Use – Replacing the function of use with aspiration-linked action
